Women's Retreat

Join us for a Women’s Retreat in the Virginia countryside this Winter to explore the unique ways in which our bodies hold old trauma and also provide the pathways to our flourishing.

We are almost all trained in the rationalistic tradition of being: meaning, we think of living and learning as something that happens uniquely with our brains – thinking, memorizing and analyzing. What’s missing is an understanding about the body: specifically, that our bodies and ourselves are one in the same – this is our whole self. We are now at a historical transition where it is crucial to place living and learning in the context of action: as a way of being in the world, instead of being only intellectually smart.

We shape our self
to fit this world

and by the world
are shaped again.

The visible
and the invisible

working together
in common cause,

to produce
the miraculous.

I am thinking of the way
the intangible air

traveled at speed
round a shaped wing

holds our weight.

So may we, in this life

to those elements
we have yet to see

or imagine,
and look for the true

shape of our own self,
by forming it well

to the great
intangibles about us.
